Long Road Out of Eden

Long Road Out of Eden Review

Long Road Out of Eden Feature

  • Condition: Used - Good
What a long, strange wait it's been. Don Felder has left, a generation has grown into adulthood, and at long last, Eagles return with a new studio album, their first since 1979's The Long Run. Given the interim, though, fans couldn't possibly have asked for more. The two-disc, 20-track Long Road Out of Eden not only retains the entire menu of the Eagles' staple sounds--effortless, multi-part harmonies; colorful, if not intricate, guitar embellishment; meticulously crafted songwriting; squeaky-clean, almost geriatric production--but many of these songs also viscerally recall past hits from Eagles' or the extant members' solo records. Like revenant doubles, "Frail Grasp on the Big Picture" echoes "Life in the Fast Lane," "How Long" channels "Take It Easy," the guitar arpeggio threading through "Center of the Universe" hints at the ubiquitous "Hotel California," and "Business As Usual" could have been culled from the cutting room floor from Don Henley's The End of the Innocence. The effect of all this familiarity is one of masterfully crafted self-tribute with one eye riveted on posterity, calculated to please both the deep-pocketed who can still afford the Eagles' concerts and those who'd given up on ever hearing new material again. --Jason Kirk Japanese only 2 x SHM-CD pressing. Day of the Eagle: The Best of Robin Trower

Day of the Eagle: The Best of Robin Trower Review

2008 compilation of digitally remastered cuts from the English guitarist and Rock legend, often compared to Jimi Hendrix due to his bluesy Psychedelic style. He was originally a member of Procol Harum but soon left to pursue a solo career. Throughout the '70s, Trower was a staple on FM radio alongside many other great Classic Rock artists. Since his heyday, his output has not been as prolific, although he is still respected and revered by fans of Classic Rock and guitar heroes. 17 tracks including 'Caledonia', 'Bridge Of Sighs', 'Man Of The World', 'Day Of The Eagle' and many more. The Complete Greatest Hits

The Complete Greatest Hits Review

2008 'vinyl replica' edition of this best-selling two CD set. With a career spanning over four decades The Eagles are among the most successful Rock 'N' Roll acts of all time. The original Eagles compilation, Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975, remains one of the best-selling records of all time and this updated two CD collection contains all the same hallmarks that made it so successful, with some welcome surprises. The staple recordings remain, with 'Hotel California' the most immediately recognizable, as well as hits like 'Lyin' Eyes' and 'New Kid In Town'. Also included is their single 'Hole In The World', written as a response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Like many of The Eagles' songs, the difficult and confrontational subject matter is softened by their trademark vocal harmonies

Spread Eagle

Spread Eagle Review

Spread Eagle's Debut Album has been reissued by Lovember Records. Originally released in 1990 by MCA/Universal it has been out of print for ten years. Regarded by many as being a "classic" this album has been digitally remastered and contains all 11 songs. "Switchblade Serenade" and "Scratch Like A Cat" received strong airplay on rock radio and their videos were in heavy rotation on MTV's Headbanger's Ball. Other album favorites are "Broken City" and the dramatic ballad "Thru These Eyes". The band built a strong international following supported by non-stop touring. Many in the industry considered Spread Eagle to be the Guns 'N Roses of New York. In 2006 the group reunited for a U.S. tour.
